【空撮動画】屋久島モッチョム岳

巨岩がそびえるモッチョム岳（本富岳）は島の南部、原集落や尾之間集落から望むことができます。
標高は940メートル、上方に突き出た姿は東洋のマッターホルンとも呼ばれます。その堂々たる姿で見る者を圧倒し、神を祀る山として、古くから島の人々の信仰の対象となってきました。
モッチョム岳の登山道は「千尋の滝展望台」の近くにある登山口から山に入ります。
ちなみに「千尋の滝展望台」からは、滝壺へと白く伸びる落差60mの「千尋の滝」と、川岸に広がる大きな一枚岩の花崗岩を見ることができます。
Motchomu-dake , a towering giant rock, can be seen from the Hara and Onoma villages in the southern part of the island.
It has an altitude of 940 meters and its upward appearance is also called the Matterhorn of the East. Its majestic appearance overwhelms those who see it, and as a mountain dedicated to a god, it has been an object of faith for the islanders since ancient times.

Enter the mountain from the trailhead near the Chihiro Falls Observation Deck.
By the way, from the ``Chihiro Falls Observation Deck'', you can see ``Chihiro Falls'', which has a 60m-high white waterfall that extends into the basin of the waterfall, and a large monolith of granite that spreads along the riverbank.
